Comprehensive Guide to Resolving Anilox Roller Sleeve Installation Issues
2024-06-13

In flexible and gravure printing, installation issues with anilox roller sleeves can impact print quality and production efficiency. Below are more detailed suggestions for addressing potential problems

with both the air shaft and the anilox roller sleeve to assist you in resolving installation issues:

Potential Issues with the Air Shaft:

Check Air Pressure: In addition to ensuring the pressure is between 6 to 8 bar (87-116 psi), also verify the stability of pressure fluctuations. Both excessively high or low pressure can lead to

difficulties in installing the roller sleeve.

Air Flow Rate: Sufficient and stable airflow is necessary. Inspect ventilation in the cylinder and compressed air system to ensure adequate airflow and prevent blockages.

Remove Moisture and Oil: Use filters and drain valves to eliminate moisture and oil from the air, preventing interference with sleeve installation. Regular maintenance of the cylinder and compressed

air system is also essential.

Clean Air Holes: Regularly inspect air holes to ensure they are not clogged with ink or solvent. Blocked air holes can disrupt the formation of an air film, leading to difficulties in sleeve installation.

Check Diameter: Apart from verifying if the air shaft diameter falls within tolerance, also ensure it is uniform. Irregular diameters can cause the sleeve to jam during installation.

Potential Issues with the Anilox Roller Sleeve:

Inspect the Liner: Thoroughly examine the liner surface for deep scratches or damage. Damaged liners can reduce pressure, affecting sleeve installation and print quality.

Check the Side: Besides ensuring the side is intact, also verify if the gap between the liner and sleeve wall is even. Uneven gaps may result in uneven air film formation.

Installation Capacity Check: Before installation, measure the sleeve's length and ensure it does not exceed the air shaft's length. Oversized sleeves can lead to installation difficulties.

Allow for Expansion: When installing the sleeve, ensure waiting a few seconds after passing through the first set of activated air holes. This allows sufficient time for the liner to expand, ensuring uniform air film

formation.

By integrating the above suggestions, you can comprehensively diagnose and resolve installation issues with anilox roller sleeves, ensuring smooth operation of the printing machine and enhanced

print quality.
